The problem

Applying to medicine & dentistry is complicated. We make it simple.

Every medical & dental school scores you its own way — and many won’t tell you how. One wrong pick wastes a UCAS choice.

The data

Data you can rely on

Verdicts are only worth what the data behind them is worth. Here’s where ours comes from.

Official scoring documents

Where schools publish their method — points tables, weightings, cut-offs — we encode it exactly as written.

Freedom of Information responses

Where they don’t publish, we ask. Interview cut-offs, offer rates and scoring breakdowns obtained directly from universities.

A decade of real applicant outcomes

Ten years of Edgbaston College students — real profiles, real interviews, real offers — filling the gaps no one publishes.

Re-checked daily live

Selection systems change constantly. We re-check the data daily and update the tool the moment cut-offs move.

Every verdict carries a confidence label · so you know what’s fact and what’s modelled
EXACT

The school’s own published number. No modelling involved.

HIGH

Built from official data with minor gaps filled.

ESTIMATE

Modelled from FOI data and past cycles. Labelled, never hidden.

LOW

The school tells nobody anything. We say so, honestly.

Questions

FAQs

Where does the data come from?
Official university scoring documents, Freedom of Information responses, published cut-offs — plus ten years of Edgbaston College applicant outcomes that fill the gaps schools never publish.
How accurate are the verdicts?
Every number carries a confidence label. Exact means it’s the school’s own published figure. Estimate means it’s modelled from FOI data and past cycles — and we tell you so. We never present a guess as a fact.
I’m resitting — does it still work?
Yes, and this is where the tool earns its keep. Resit rules differ wildly: friendly at some schools, an instant rejection at others, first-sit minimums at a few. Every school’s exact rule is encoded, for both A-levels and GCSEs.
My grades aren’t where they need to be — can you actually help?
Yes — beyond the tool. EDGU is built by the team behind Edgbaston College, and helping students out of exactly this spot is what the college does:
Edgbaston College
Edgbaston College
  • Transfer into Year 13 — full-time, a fresh run at the grades
  • Resit A-levels — in person in Birmingham or online
Talk to us →
What happens when schools change their cut-offs?
The data is re-checked daily and the tool updated as soon as cut-offs are published. Your profile re-runs against the latest data at no extra cost.
Who is it built for?
Home (England) fee-status applicants, both widening-participation and standard — that’s where the data is deepest. Scottish and Welsh students are covered well too, including fee-group cut-offs where schools use them. There’s some international data in the tool, but it isn’t built for international applicants yet.
What’s the difference between the free calculator and the full tool?
The free calculator scores a quick profile and shows your verdict counts only. The full tool factors everything that actually moves a verdict — fee nation, widening participation, your exact GCSE and A-level profile, resits and first-sits, SJT band — and lets you see it from multiple perspectives, all visual: ranked shortlist, UCAT Simulator, Explore lenses, Build my 4.
Can it guarantee an offer?
No — no one can, and be wary of anything that claims to. EDGU is built to maximise your chances, not promise them: the best data available, in the easiest format, so every UCAS choice is an informed one. Edgbaston College students applying on this same data secure interviews at a 95%+ rate.
Does it cover Oxford and Cambridge?
Yes, in high detail. Oxford and Cambridge release far more data than most schools — published scoring and FOI responses — and we’ve computed it into a clear read on whether you have a realistic chance, with the wider quirks of applying there explained.
Is it for graduate entry?
No — EDGU is built for school-leaver entry. Graduate routes get a mention where relevant, but this isn’t a grad-entry tool.
Do you cover dentistry?
Yes — EDGU now scores UK dental schools alongside medicine. Switch between Medicine and Dentistry at the top of the tool.
Last thing

Four UCAS choices. Don’t waste one.

One misjudged pick can cost the whole cycle. Five minutes tells you where you actually stand.
